Two at once is a silly risk at his age!

I must apologise yet again that the Pontin’s booking system is not yet open.  More administrative delays I’m afraid but it should be up and running soon.  Meantime you can still make a provisional booking by ringing 01253 340100, which is the direct line to Blackpool Pontin’s and the staff will take down your details and requirements.  So if you are worried you might not get one of the posh Chalets, that’s the thing to do.

You may have noticed in the newspapers that Pontin’s is planning to make a big investment in refurbishing their Holiday Centres, in spite continues………

GoldWing Market Update
2009 Model GL1800

2009 Model GL1800

In the Article I wrote a few weeks ago, Buying a GoldWing Part 2 – Overview of the UK  GoldWing Market, I suggested that the UK market for big bikes was depressed because of the economic downturn and that dealers were existing on sales of commuter bikes.

There has been a big change in recent weeks. I  heard from the Trade recently that the market for bigger and more expensive used bikes is surprisingly buoyant, to the extent that prices of used bikes of  many types are likely to rise in UK, even those of bigger bikes.  This is not because UK riders are suddenly opening continues………

Scotia Wings – by Robin Cook
Modern Alternative to a Region

Modern Alternative to a Region

Scotia Wings was formed in 2000 by a small group of GoldWing riders centred on Perthshire, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.

Our Club is open to owners of Honda GoldWing motorcycles and also to those less fortunate individuals who don’t yet have one but are interested in getting one.

The Club still meets in Perthshire but draws Members from a wider area and over the years has gone from strength to strength.  Scotia Wings has Members from many areas of Scotland including Central, Tayside and Grampian.

Each year there is a busy programme of organised ride outs both home and abroad (not just England!) and we also enjoy turning out for continues………

GoldWings North West Website
GoldWings North West website

GoldWings North West website

For those who’ve been visiting GoldWings North West’s new website and have been frustrated to keep finding it in “Maintenance Mode”, our sincere apologies.

Here is a sneak preview. Click on the image to see an enlarged version.

Construction work by Nigel Mackintosh has already finished and Bob Summers had his first driving lesson on it this morning, so it should be up and running with interesting content very soon – hopefully by this weekend if not before.

This website is the prototype for an “off the shelf” Club website which will be available to GoldWing Clubs (or Regions) which affiliate with the Federation of UK GoldWing Clubs – this is just one of the novel benefits we are working on.

It will be very easy to adapt the continues………

A thriving GoldWing Newsletter – and a Secret GoldWing Society in Yorkshire?
It's all about freedom of choice

It's all about freedom of choice

This Blog has become extremely popular – far more than I expected when it was launched a couple of months ago; its viewing figures have risen very quickly. It’s been getting over 1,500 unique visits per week, so it’s being fairly widely read in the UK GoldWing Community already.

So thank everyone for your interest; you are helping to create a new and useful type of Newsletter for the UK GoldWing Community.  Please keep viewing regularly and keep your contributions and comments coming too. This Blog is for everyone.

Strange then that someone would not want to make use of it, or at least not to continues………

A Rival GoldWing Blog!

If you’ve read everything which interests you on this Blog, then you might like to visit another UK GoldWing Blog which has just appeared.  It’s part of the GoldWings North Wales website.

The whole website is stylishly done (they have good taste in Webmasters!) and it contains a wealth of information, especially photographs, of which there are lots and lots.

The Chairman’s Blog is a new addition.  It’s readable and informative with some excellent articles already.

I thought that everything published in Wales had to be bilingual these days, so I was looking forward to seeing how Dave’s Welsh was coming on – but then I realised I wouldn’t have known whether it was good Welsh or not!  It’s a good read Dave, well done!

For Sale or Wanted – a new Blog Feature

GL1800 For Sale - wife extra

This Blog is now being widely viewed within the UK GoldWing community so it occured to me that it might be useful to have a For Sale and Wanted section. So here it is – on a trial basis.

GoldWings, parts, accessories and services for GoldWing owners may now be advertised free of charge on this Blog.

This service is available to dealers and private sellers alike.  Photos may be displayed too, more than one if you wish.  Nor is there a  limit on how many words.  Each advert will appear on the Blog as a short article like this one.

All you need to do is email me the copy of your advert using continues………

Buying a GoldWing Part 3 – Buying from a dealer
A 2008 model Pearl White GL1800 - available only by importing from North America

A 2008 model Pearl White GL1800 in standard trim, as sold by the manufacturer - this particular colour is available only by importing from North America

The simplest and easiest way to buy a GoldWing is to visit one of the specialist GoldWing dealers in the UK, where you will be able to view a selection of new and used GoldWings.  You will get advice and assistance from people who know a great deal about them and you will probably also be given an opportunity to ride before you buy.  But they only sell late model GoldWings and you will probably pay a premium price, reflecting the costs of the service they are providing for you.

You can of course buy a new GoldWing simply by ordering one from any Honda Dealer in UK, but although all Honda Dealers are supposed to stock the full model range, GoldWings are expensive to stock and slow to move, so only a minority of the non-specialist Honda Dealers will ordinarily stock them.  They are unlikely to have a demonstrator for you continues………

An Introduction to Elite-Wings by Ian Cardwell
Ian & Denise Cardwell, Founders of Elite-Wings

Ian and Denise Cardwell, Founders of Elite-Wings (by the way they didn't ride their bike to the top of this!)

Elite-Wings was formed back in 2001 with just two couples, myself and wife Denise and another couple, Derek and Christine.  After buying a GoldWing in 1998 we had all joined an existing GoldWing club but we were disappointed with what was on offer.  We didn’t want to do tents & camping, which was basically all the existing club seemed to do; we wanted nice long touring rides to new places and a decent standard of overnight accommodation en route.

It became clear that nothing like this was on the agenda of the existing Club or ever likely to be, so we decided to do our own thing.

The very first Elite-Wings event in 2001 was continues………
