Mosel Tour Part Two – The Really Rainy Day
The view from the Hotel Garage was not encouraging

The view from the Hotel Garage was not encouraging

Having ridden through a lot of rain during the first half of our journey to get to the Mosel, naturally we were hopeful that the band of bad weather would stay behind us.  But it was not to be and by late evening, as we finished our meal and drank our drinks,  the band of heavy rain had caught up with us.  It rained hard throughout the night and at breakfast time we learned that it would probably rain all day. Having caught us up, the band of bad weather decided to sit on top of us for 24 hours.

Our Hostess, the ever-helpful Bettina, came up with the idea of a train excursion to Trier, a large town about an hour away.  The train station was literally a stone throw away and “family” tickets were available for groups of five people of any age at a special rate.  The whole group except me (I was feeling constrained by my dodgy hip) set of for the day wearing a stylish mixture of biking gear and other rainwear and carrying the Hotel’s entire stock of umbrellas.  There was no continues………

Mosel Tour 2009 – Tour Report Part 1 – The Outbound Journey
Nice scenery, wonderful motorcycling

Nice scenery, wonderful motorcycling

Three of us who live in the Preston Area met at my home to make the 130 miles afternoon journey to our Ferryport at Hull.  Since we were all fairly experienced riders, we simply rode as mates for the first half hour, making progress through the relatively slow-moving Saturday traffic on the A59 without difficulty – although Bill, who was bringing up the rear, did complain afterwards that he was having to leg it somewhat to keep up.

Up front I was sticking to the speed limit apart from brief spurts to complete an overtake with dispatch, so I didn’t think I would be hurrying continues………

The 2009 Blackpool Light Parade Logo

Sorry it’s been quiet on the BLP website recently, planning and preparation has nevertheless been continuing in the background – but there have been a few obstacles, hence for example the delay in publishing this year’s Route and Programme.

Lots of things have been going well; we have support from Blackpool Council at a very senior level, a better static display location and an increased budget this year.

I will be meeting Blackpool Police as soon as continues………

GL1800 Headlamp Units – Now Sold
For use in mainalnd Europe, not UK

For use in mainalnd Europe, not UK

Here’s one for viewers in mainland Europe who might be thinking of importinga GL1800 from UK because the Euro is so strong.

These headlamp units were removd from a GL1800 which was imported into UK from Germany in 2005, to be replaced by the UK equivalent. The dipped beam on these units favours the right hand side of the road, so they were not acceptable for use in UK.

They are as new and complete with all the rubber gaiters and even the light bulbs.

Ideal for converting a UK-sourced GL1800 for riding in mainland Europe.

Postscript – Sold to Germany, from whence the source bike originally came.

For sale – Possibly the Best Goldwing Trailer available in UK
A unique design, specially adapted for a GoldWing

A unique design, specially adapted for a GoldWing

If you want an open trailer to transport a GoldWing behind a motorhome, this one-off, professionally adapted (and originally professionally built) trailer is probably the best you could ever hope to find – and it’s for sale for £1, 295.

The owner has sold his Wing in favour of a smaller bike and he wants to trail both his and his son’s bike and this one’s not really suitable for adaptation to that role – and anyway it’s so well suited for use with a GoldWing that he wants a Winger to have the benefit of it rather than mess it about by converting it to a different use.

This trailer started life as a Kliponoff Trailer, so it was plenty strong enough to carry a Wing, even though it has a single axle.  It’s fully braked of course and continues………
