An unusual opportunity to buy a hardly used UK Spec  GL1800.

This bike was bought and registered only last June 2010 with a view to long term ownership and has been fitted out (by Ian Cardwell) with some very useful accessories, including a purpose-made fused accessory power panel which will make the addition of further powered accessories much easier to do.

Its still only done only 620miles and is up for sale because the owner who has had previous GL1800s and also has other bikes, has found that he has not really being using this GoldWing – so it’s time to find it a new owner.  Ian is now offering the bike for sale on behalf of the owner.

This bike is an Airbag model with Honda’s Navi sat-nav system built-in and it cost almost £20,000 only a few months ago, plus the cost of the accessories.  And apart from having a first registered date of June 2010 and the accessories, it’s almost indistinguishable from a new one, indeed sinbce GL1800 production finished when the marysville factory closed in March 2009, this will be one of the final batch of bikes manaufactured for the UK market and any “new” GL1800s bikes which HondaUK are offering will be from exactly the same batch with exactly the same specification and differing only in colour. There are no more of these Bloodstone Metallic Red bikes available from HondaUK’s remaining stocks, so if you fancy this colour this one might be the only way of getting what is effectively a new one.  Its even still under Honda UK warranty until June 2012.

This bike has been properly stored and looked after and it’s had its first service (including engine oil change, also by Ian Cardwell) so it’s ready to go for this year’s biking season.

BMW dealer when valuing it, described it as “Good to Very Condition”, it does have the odd scratch and mark from it’s years of service.

K&N air filter and NGK Iridium spark plugs recently fitted, so they both have a long life.

Dunlop Elite 3 tires almost new and they have been Ultrasealed. Wheels have recently been chrome silver powder coated and new bearings fitted on the front. Lots of stainless steel nuts, bolts and sockets (Pro-Bolt) fitted at the same time.

Small amount of extras fitted, Hondaline trunk spoiler with brake light, lower trunk and lower pannier spoilers (colour matched) Fog lights, Kuryakyn tow bar with electrics. Kuryakyn trunk rack, grips and footrests. Tulsa hand and foot wings plus Baker Leg Wings & lower side fairing deflectors. It is fitted with a ram mount and wiring for my sat-nav will leave on.

This is a Black US- spec 2008 Airbag Model GL1800, first registered (new) in UK in March 2010.

One owner and only 5,500 miles.

Because it is the top of the range, US-spec Airbag Model it also has ABS, the Honda/Garmin Navi system (with European Maps) , heated grips and seat, hot air foot warmer flaps, the Premium, 6 speaker, 80W per channel audio system (more powerful than the UK equivalent) and the uprated 1KW alternator.  It is also fitted for (but not with) the Hondaline CB radio, which can therefore be installed very straightforwardly by plugging into sockets which are already built into the bike’s wiring loom.

Nigel Simpkin was offering his 1994 Model GL1500 Aspencade for sale because he moved to France and took it with him, only to discover that he cannot register it there.

The bike was first registerred in UK in 1997 but it’s a 1994 Model Year GL1500, US-specification Aspencade in Pearl Atlantis Blue, which is a greeny-blue colour.  Nigel thinks there are less than a handful of GL1500s of this colour in UK and he might well be right because Pearl Atlantis Blue was not released as a GL1500 colour in UK.

Three models of GL1500 were sold in the USA: the Interstate, the Aspencade and the SE.  The Aspencade has the all-important reverse gear and an audio/intercom system, and this bike is fitted for (but not continues………

GL1000 Executive 1977

The GoldWing Executive was a special edition of the GL1000 sold only in UK and only 51 bikes were made.

These bikes were commissioned by HondaUK which arranged for a batch of standard GL1000s to be specially adapted by Rickman (a British firm) iincluding special fairings and other accessories and for the bikes to be specially finished in black with gold coach-lining.  Each bike was numbered and they were sold through Honda Dealers in UK only.

This bike was first registered in 1977 and is painted as Number 19 of the series of 51.

It has done 45000 miles.  The frame has been powder coated. The tank panels, radiator shrouds, side panels have been resprayed to original black and gold pin striping by Dream Machine.

New front and rear chrome mudguards. New exhaust pipes. All this work carried out when I acquired it in 1987, but has been kept in garage under cover and looked after.

The bike has not been on the road for six years but it still starts and runs.

It needs someone who can give it a good home and look after it.

This luggage trailer is not your usual flimsy thing.  It’s the same moulding and construction as the manufacturer uses for a Trailer Tent, so it’s both spacious and robust.  It incorporates an extended towing arm on which is mounted a cool box carrier.  You can power your coolbox from the bike’s electrics and your beer woill be ready to drink immediately you arrive!

This British-made Micro Gem GoldWing luggage trailer was purchased new in 2006 and has been used only three times, including the time it was used to carry luggage behind the owner’s car.

It cost £2250 new and it is in as new condition.  It has always been dry-stored in a  garage when not in use.  The tyres still have their bobbles on, it has the expensive chrome top rack fitted as well as a spare wheel, a jockey wheel and extra side lights for safety. continues………
