Bargain at £15,999
In a surprising development HondaUK have imported 16 US-spec GL1800s for sale through their UK dealers and four of them have been grabbed by Knustford Honda.
These bikes come in a choice of black or Topica Metallic Gold and they are absolutely standard US-Spec 2006 Model Year bikes. They have ABS but no airbag or satnav.
And they’re on offer at a staggering £15,999 with a full two year Honda Warranty, so nearly £7,000 below the list price for a 2010 model UK Airbag model.
What’s the snag – well there really isn’t one. The bikes were manufactured in late 2005 so they have been stored in crates since then before coming to UK and so it would be sensible to ask the dealer to change all the fluids before you ride them – and the dealer will have to put the bikes through an SVA Test anyway before they are sold to you, which means a few minor adaptations to make them comply with UK lighting and other regulations.
But for Wingers who want to use CB radio on their bikes this batch of GL1800s represent stunning value for money. Knutsford Honda have only two of them left (one each colour) so if you fancy a new GL1800, don’t hang around. Ring Sean or Mike on 01925 752600 before you miss out!

Keep calm everyone, a good price yes, but after crossing Gypsy Rose Turvey’s palm with silver at Blackpool, I have been told that in the near future, a new GoldWing will be coming out, a brand new all different GoldWing, a better GoldWing, a super GoldWing, a GoldWing with bigger knobs on, so hold out chaps that shiny new GL1800 could be as much use, as a one legged man in an a*se kicking contest.

Gypsy Rose Turvey – now that’s a fund-raising idea for next year’s Light Parade. He could certainly look the part dressed in a shawl, staring into a crystal ball and with a few mumbled Welsh words would even appear to be speaking in tongues.
But as far as the new GoldWing is concerned he’s clearly not been reading this Blog properly – it’s going to be another couple of years at least before it comes to UK. I think that £16,000 for an unused, un-registered 2006 Model Year US-spec ABS GL1800 with a two year HondaUK guarantee is very good value. By the 2005 Model year all the bugs had been redesigned out of the GL1800; the last one I know about being the revised alternator cushion drive. Unless you want an airbag, these bikes are as good as a GL1800 gets.
MInd you HGB are said to be selling theirs for £17,000 and since they will have bought them at the same price as Knutsford Honda, they are perhaps being a bit greedy. Only 16 were imported in this batch but more are in prospect so it’s worth shopping around.

Colette and I are looking forward to BLP 2011 we will be booking in for the full weekend as we NOT be going to the truffen next year. Roll on Blackpool 2011
